How To Make A Rose Bouquet
A rose, symbol of innocence, purity and romance. If you're looking for a floral project that's easy and yields gorgeous results, learn how to make a rose bouquet. A bouquet is a cluster of flowers held together which is carried in the hands or can be displayed in a vase. Some bouquets are mixed, which means there is more than one type of flower or plant included. For this simple yet stunning project you will use roses only for an elegant look. The first thing you need to do when starting this project is a little planning and supply gathering.
It is important to have the instructions and supplies gathered and organized before getting started to ensure the project goes smoothly. You will need 12 roses in the color of your choice for a small bouquet. Real roses are preferred, but silk roses can be used in a pinch. While red is a popular color for roses there are many other colors available including white, yellow and pink. Other necessary supplies include a sharp pair of craft scissors, a roll of green floral tape, 2 yards of ribbon in the width and color of your choice, a water spray bottle and a plastic container that can hold up to 1 quart with at least a 5 inch diameter measurement.
On the day you buy your fresh flowers, remove the leaves and thorns. To create the bouquet, you will need three centerpiece flowers. Once you've chosen them, add three more to create a triangular shape. Tuck additional roses into the bouquet spaced evenly apart to create a circular shape. The blossoms and stems should be close together and the look should be tight. Once you're satisfied with the arrangement use the green floral tape to secure the stems approximately eight inches down from the flower. Cover the floral tape with the ribbon, and use the scissors to cut the stems approximately one inch down from the ribbon.
To preserve the bouquet place it in the plastic container filled with one inch of water and cover loosely. You can store the bouquet in the refrigerator if you want, although any cool area will do fine. If you do not need to store the bouquet and want to display it in your home in a vase you can do so immediately. Now that you know how to make a rose bouquet you can experiment with different colors and arrangements. You may even want to add in other flowers or plants for a varied look.
